MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the City of Socorro Public Transportation to provide, safe, reliable and cost effective transportation to the general public, with access to health care, shopping, education, employment and public recreational services.
ACCESSIBILITY
Socorro Transit is accessible to persons with disabilities.  Buses and vans are equipped with wheelchair lifts that enable persons in wheelchairs or persons who cannot navigate steps to ride the bus.  Buses have priority seating for persons with disabilities.  Operators are trained to assist riders use lifts and ramps, and secure wheelchairs.  You may travel with your respirator, concentrator, and portable oxygen.  Service animals are welcome on board buses and vans and in our facilities. (They must be kept under the control of the passenger at all times.)  Public information is available in alternative accessible formats upon request.  To request information in alternative accessible formats, please call us at 575-835-1501 or email us at transportation@socorronm.gov.
REASONABLE MODIFICATION
Passengers with disabilities may request modifications to current service procedures to access the service.  To make a request, please call us at 575-835-1501 or email us at transportation@socorronn.gov.  Please submit requests at least the day before the trip.  Socorro Transit will not charge additional fees for passengers requiring reasonable modifications.

Narrative History of Socorro Public Transportation

Rides must be scheduled during our office hours. Reservations should be made by close of business. Same day services are allowed only on a time available basis. Please be courteous to the dispatcher when scheduling your rides.  Profanity is not allowed at any time.   Services could be temporarily suspended if this occurs.

CITY LIMITS:
Socorro Transportation operates a curb to curb service, or based on request and passenger need, door to door demand service as long as it is safe to do so. Our policy does not allow drivers to cross threshold of the door. Please be ready by the curb for your ride.  Driver will wait only 5 minutes after your scheduled ride.Children under age 6 ride free In City Limits.  Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.   If your child is under the age, and is riding without an adult, a release form must be filled out and signed by their guardian. This form may be picked up in the office. Socorro Transit has a (3) three no show policy.If you accumulate more than (3) three no shows within one month period, riding privileges could be temporarily suspended.   Continue no shows could lead to a permanent suspension of riding privileges.

For your safety, Socorro Public Transportation has a no standee policy on the Rail Runner Express Shuttle.   To ensure that we send a bus that can accommodate all riders, we recommend that you call to let us know you will be riding the shuttle and whether you will travel with a wheelchair or a bike.
