February 26-28: Battles for Socorro Civil War Re-Enactment

Union and Confederate camps will set up near Socorro and bring history alive with a re-enactment. Whether you are a history buff or just a camera buff, come out and enjoy the events!

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

FRIDAY, February 26 - 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm Lantern Tours begin at Escondida Fort
Living History, Celtic String Band, Free Old Fashion Root Beer. North of Socorro, Exit 152, travel 1.4 miles north to Escondida Road, east to Escondida Bridge.

7:30 pm The Boulder Acoustic Society - Musical Entertainment at NM Tech Macey Center.

SATURDAY, February 27 - 10:30 - 12 noon - Battle of Valverde, featuring Initial Calvary Contact-skirmishing/troop buildup--Co. B, 5th Regt. Texas Mounted Volunteers Lance Charge against Dodd's Colorado Volunteers (Denver City Infantry/Pikes Peakers). The battle is narrated by historical authority followed by tour of the fort. (phase I) at Escondida Bridge (Exit 152); Battle of Valverde (phase II) at Escondida Bridge; Cavalry Competition, Field Medical Demo at Escondida
