The federal government through the Health & Humans Services (HHS) and the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), N.M. National Gaurd, Socorro County, the City of Socorro, and New Mexico Tech will once again offer additional COVID-19 testing opportunities for our community. This joint effort will come together at the Socorro Collaborative Testing Site located at the Socorro Youth Center (1002 Ake St.) starting Saturday, Nov. 21, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. This siting site will remain operational each day until all of our allotted 800 shallow nasal swab kits (less intrusive) are used. Hopefully, we will get additional kits for distribution as we did in our first round of testing.
Individuals are encouraged to pre-register at www.doineedacovid19test.com. Please print out your registration form with the voucher/confirmation number and bring it with you otherwise, you will need to transfer your information and number onto a paper form when you arrive. If you save the information to your cell phone, you will still need to fill out a hard copy of the form to be inserted into your test kit envelope. These additional steps will delay your process on-site and increase unnecessary touchpoints.
As a reminder, the Socorro Public Health Office will also continue their Monday and Wednesday testing from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tech’s on-campus Thursday testing is finished for the fall semester and will start-up again in January.
Please take advantage of all these local opportunities to be tested and helping to minimize the spread of this pandemic.
