MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the City of Socorro Public Transportation to provide, safe, reliable and cost effective transportation to the general public, with access to health care, shopping, education, employment and public recreational services.
ACCESSIBILITY
Socorro Transit is accessible to persons with disabilities.  Buses and vans are equipped with wheelchair lifts that enable persons in wheelchairs or persons who cannot navigate steps to ride the bus.  Buses have priority seating for persons with disabilities.  Operators are trained to assist riders use lifts and ramps, and secure wheelchairs.  You may travel with your respirator, concentrator, and portable oxygen.  Service animals are welcome on board buses and vans and in our facilities. (They must be kept under the control of the passenger at all times.)  Public information is available in alternative formats upon request.
REASONABLE MODIFICATION
Passengers with disabilities may request modifications to current service procedures to access the service.  To make a request, please call us at 575-835-1501 or email us at jsantillanes@socorronn.gov.  Please submit requests at least the day before the trip.  Socorro Transit will not charge additional fees for passengers requiring reasonable modifications.

Narrative History of Socorro Public Transportation

Rides must be scheduled during our office hours. Reservations should be made by close of business. Same day services are allowed only on a time available basis. Please be courteous to the dispatcher when scheduling your rides.  Profanity is not allowed at any time.   Services could be temporarily suspended if this occurs.

CITY LIMITS:
Socorro Transportation operate a curb to curb service, or based on request and passenger need, door to door demand service as long as it is safe to do so. Our policy does not allow drivers to cross threshold of the door. Please be ready by the curb for your ride.  Driver will wait only 5 minutes after your scheduled ride.Children under age 6 ride free In City Limits.  Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.   If your child is under the age, and is riding without an adult, a release form must be filled out and signed by their guardian. This form may be picked up in the office. Socorro Transit has a (3) three no show policy.If you accumulate more than (3) three no shows within one month period, riding privileges could be temporarily suspended.   Continue no shows could lead to a permanent suspension of riding privileges.

MAGDALENA ROUTE:
The Magdalena and Alamo Route were combined into one route and will continue this way until further notice. Pick up for this route is at Conoco Station in Magdalena, Monday through Friday at 7:00 am. Return trip at 5:00 pm. You may park your vehicles in empty lot at back of Conoco Station. Leave vehicles at your own risk. Neither the City of Socorro nor Conoco Station will be responsible for your vehicle or its contents. You must make arrangements to ride by calling our office.

LOS LUNAS ROUTE: 
This service is provided 3 times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to the Central New Mexico Dialysis Clinic in Los Lunas, New Mexico.Departure is at 9:30 am from the Sedillo Park Transportation bus shelter, located off of Bullock Blvd.
Arriving in Los Lunas @ 10:30 am.
Return trip is between the hours of 3:30 and 4:00 pm.
Arriving in Socorro @ 5:00pm – 5:15 pm.If one of these days of the week falls on a Holiday, we will change or days of service to accommodate those who are using our service for dialysis treatment.Our pick up stop is located at Sedillo Park (off of Bullock Blvd.)If you cannot make it to the stop, please call the office and make arrangements to be picked up at your home.Please be at pick up station 15 minutes before departure time.For your safety, Socorro Public Transportation has no standee policy on the Los Lunas Route.To ensure that we send a bus that can accommodate all riders, we recommend that you call to let us know you will be riding and whether you will travel with a wheelchair or bike.
